I am a nurse. For years I told mothers why their babies might cry and that breastfeeding doesn’t always fall into place by itself. Then my son Mete was born, and this time I lived what I knew in my own arms.

Merve’s sister Ayşe and I are friends. I write for Meşgalem’s Inspiration pages as a guest: about the many feelings the weeks after birth hold at once, the days I doubted myself, and slowly learning to look at myself with kindness.
